Barbara F Tilton

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Barbara F. Tilton, passed away at home on February 22, 2025, after a long illness surrounded by her children. She would have celebrated her 87th birthday on the 27th of February.

Barbara was the heart of her home and family. She raised six children, James Tilton, Sr. (Lisa), Linda Tilton, John Tilton (Robin), Jacqueline Maw (Stuart), Michelle Tilton (Kenneth) and Racquel McCulla (Tim), in an active and loving home. She was proud of each of her children as they have grown to be successful adults in each of their own ways. Barbara was married for 50 years to her high school sweetheart and soulmate, John, who preceded her in death in 2008. Her son Jim followed his father in death, as he passed away in 2010. As a grandmother to eleven beautiful grandchildren and ten beautiful great grandchildren, she has left behind an amazing family legacy.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Long Beach Island and was known for her love of the beach, spending her younger years boating on the bay and swimming in the ocean. She also loved to draw and was known to paint in her younger years. Even as she battled for many years against different forms of cancer, she showed determination to fight until her last days. She will be dearly missed. Services are private. A celebration of life will take place in the Spring to honor her. May she rest now and find peace being reunited with the family members that have gone before her.
