Douglas Standfast

Born in Mineola, NY on New Year’s Eve 1952, to the late John and Constance Standfast, Doug later moved to NJ where he enjoyed visiting nearby Atlantic City every year on his birthdate to celebrate the commencement of another beautiful year with his wife Lisa “Lee” by his side.

Aside from his beloved wife, Lee, Doug is survived by his brothers Roger, Terry, Scott and Scott’s wife, Phyliss. Doug was also a fun, loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

A hard worker with a penchant for helping those in need, Doug was a member of the Army/National Guard for decades, proudly serving our country with a tour of duty in Iraq from 2008-2009, retiring from the U.S. military in 2012.

While generally a man of few words, when he did express himself, it was with wisdom. He made us all laugh with his dry sense of humor. He was a lifelong Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan.

As per his wishes, Doug was cremated at Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home on October 22, 2024. He will be interred at a nearby military cemetery with a celebration of life to follow.

Doug is sure to be missed by many, however Lee will miss her “Hugs from Bugs” more than anything!
