

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Doris Assan and his sister, Agnes Powell.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Dolores (nee Patyk) Assan; his beloved children and step-children; Tammy Assan-Mack and Edward Assan, Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, Janet Griffin and her husband, Joseph, April Curry and Robert J. Curry, III.
He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Julie Padulese and her husband, Robert and Shirley Boughtner and her husband Giles and his 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
While proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army, Edward was a mechanic, working on tanks and helicopters. Once he was honorably discharged, he worked with his father as an auto mechanic.
He also worked for Budd Company, Inc., Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc., Breta, Kinkisharyo International, LLC., and NJ Riverline. Upon retiring in September of 2010, Edward and Dolores moved to Barnegat, NJ where he was able to enjoy his many past-times.
While his family was his greatest joy in life, Ed also found enjoyment in fishing from his boat with Bobby Beerhalter, winning 1st place prizes in bluefish tournaments with Charlie Carpenter, crabbing, camping, horseshoes, darts, bowling, shuffleboard and playing pool with all of his pals in the community where he lived.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ from 10:00-11:30am on Thursday, August 18, 20016. A funeral home service will follow at 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Ed’s name be made to Heartland Hospice, 2111 New Rd, Suite 100, Northfield, NJ 08225.
