Frank Edward Pannone passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 22, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn. He entered the US Army upon graduation just prior to the end of WWll. After serving in the Army he remained in the Army Reserves for 25 years, retiring with the rank of Major. After the army, he attended the University of Illinois graduating with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Frank was licensed as a Professional Engineer and as a Registered Architect still working until the age of 90! He was a proud Illini alumni attending games in Illinois, NY and PA.
Frank was also very proud of the time he spent working at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He worked as an usher during the games and in the outfield during practice catching balls for his beloved Dodgers. It was here that he earned the money to buy a ring for his future bride, Catherine Piscioneri. Frank and Catherine were married on November 27, 1954 in Brooklyn and were married for 66 years. They lived in Brooklyn and Middletown, NJ before building a home in Cesskill, NJ where they raised 4 children, Michael, Anna Marie, James and Frank Jr. Frank was very active in Cesskill. He ran the Bingo at St. Therese's, he served on the Town Planning Board, and he was an usher at Mass every Sunday sometimes staying for 2 Masses.
Frank and Catherine eventually moved to Long Beach Island in 1995 where they currently reside. They are especially proud of their 4 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Stephanie, Julianna and Michael. Frank continued to serve the parish of St. Mary's of the Pines at Bingo and as an usher until he became ill.
Frank was a humble man regarding his work and never bragged about the buildings and homes that he was responsible for designing. He did love telling stories and cracking jokes about anything and everything. He was a big tease and everyone loved him. He loved to follow the NY Jets and attended games for over 30 years. He was an avid Mets fan since his beloved Dodgers left for California.
Frank is predeceased by his parents Frank and Anna. He is survived by his beloved bride Catherine (Rina) Piscioneri, his son Michael, his daughter Anna Marie, his son James and his wife Shari and his son Frank Jr. and his wife Summer. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Jacqueline Pellicano, Stephanie Pellicano, Julianna Pannone and Michael Pannone and an army of Cousins spread all over the US.
A visitation will be held 2:00pm-5:00pm on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30am Saturday, December 5 at St. Mary of the Pines with entombment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Beachview Ave., Manahawkin.
