Henry Laws III

Henry met his to be future wife while attending primary school at St. Leo’s Catholic School. Their friendship lasted through high school and college. Their love story and marriage lasted for 65 years.

He was predeceased by his daughter Danielle Laws, brother Joseph Laws, his father Henry Laws, II, his mother Lucia DeClerck (nee Lopez), and his brother-in-law Beverly Charles Thompson.

Henry is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Lillie Jean, his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Kevin Jackson, and Deanna and Bruce Marshall; his precious grandchildren Brittany Marshall, Devin Jackson, Myles Jackson, and Agyei Marshall, as well as his cherished great-grandsons, King and Zion Jackson. He is also survived by his brother Phillip Laws, his former sister-in-law Diane Laws Brown, brother-in-law Reginald and wife Aleta Thompson; his adored nieces, Shawn Laws, Linda Brown, Kimberley McKendell, Beverly Jean Thompson, Brid’Jette Whaley and nephew Marc Anthony Thompson, and Al so, a host of many other family members.

He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War. Upon completion of military service, Henry began a career with the United States Postal Service as a carrier. Through his strong work ethic he achieved the honored position of USPS Federal Law Enforcement Officer. He was one of the first of two men of color to achieve the position of U.S. Postal Inspector.

He enjoyed spending his leisure time fishing and boating. He loved to work in his yard and had an exceptional eye for landscaping. Henry also loved to cook on his grill and barbecue for his family and friends.

Above all else, he loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
