Originally from Hackensack, he resided in Manahawkin for the last 9 years.
John was the husband of the late Patricia Meli.
Surviving are two daughters, Dina Meli and her husband Tom and Patti Ann Casazza and her husband, Mark. Two grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Casazza. His mother Angela Meli, his sister, Marguerite Meli, and his long-time companion, Susanne.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 9th at 8 PM at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Calling hours will be from 4 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
