

Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Patricia; his parents, Joseph and Helen DeCarlo; his brother, George, and sister, Joan. He is survived by his children: Denise, John, and Joseph, as well as his cherished grandchildren—Catherine, James, Elizabeth and Robert-- and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy, and several nieces and nephews.
Joseph enlisted in the Navy during World War ll and served as gunners mate. He was on LST 388 at Normandy Beach on D-Day. Upon returning home after his discharge from the Navy, he met the love of his life, Patricia. They married in 1947 and raised three children.
He lived on Long Island for decades and enjoyed saltwater fishing and clamming on his boat with the family on summer weekends. In his sixties, he and Patricia moved to upstate NY, where he lived near his daughter and her family. In 1992 when he retired, he and Patricia moved to Florida. Upon Patricia’s passing, he moved up north again to be near his daughter and other family members.
Joseph lived independently until he was 98, at which time he moved to an assisted living facility. In April 2025, he celebrated his 100th birthday with his family and his friends from VFW Post 10118.
While Joseph worked for many years as the parts manager of various car dealerships, he eventually worked his way up to becoming the general manager of both the parts and service departments.
Interment will be held at 1:00 on February 13, 2026, at Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
