We just found out about Shirleys passing. She was a wonderful friend to our Uncle.  She had become an extension of our family and we will miss her.  So sorry we did not hear sooner.  Our condolences to the family.

I find it funny you called me your shining star, when in fact you are mine. I dont go a day without missing your voice, laugh, or beautiful smile. I know youre with Pop Pop enjoying a cold Coors.

Shirley was a friend to my daughter Erin Sharkey Coxen and we loved spending time with her in our home.  She regularly came to our family parties and events.  She was tremendously loving and encouraging person.  Our family (The Sharkeys) will greatly miss her.

i remember when we first met: by chance at k2.  from that moment, we both knew we'd found in each other a forever friend.  with you i shared tears, secrets, drinks, feist, and laughter.  regardless the 40 year difference between us, you were the best friend i ever had.  i'll never forget the time i pushed you back to the bay house from the bar in a shopping cart, or when i took you for your first sail on your 75th birthday and your reaction to the "big wind", or the time we rode the pink bus all over the island singing dolly parton songs, or when we spent hours walking around up to our knees in the ocean when it was so still that there wasn't even one wave, or when we'd have one of your famous porkroll sandwich breakfasts in the bait shop.  i miss you, i love you, and you are irreplaceable.

Shirley's passing came as a shock to me, as well as all who her life has touched. I hadn't heard anything and when I pulled up to her store this morning the black balloons and memorial on the window caused my heart to sink. Shirley was a terrific woman. I am so glad she reached out to me a few weeks ago after not hearing from her for a couple of years. I am so sorry that I was too late to attend the services. Never again will I pass by her store without remembering her spirit. Rest in Peace.

Shirley was a wonderful and unique woman. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and her eyes would light up whenever she discussed them or he husband Dan.  She was unbelievably generous  and incredibly funny. She let us actually put our house on her lot when we renovated and raised it on pilings after Hurricane Sandy. I liked to say we were more than close neighbors after that! It was the kind of thing you just don't see often nowadays. Shirley did it without thinking twice. She  relished her life and brought much joy to serving others. We shall miss her greatly.

Shirley will be missed by the neighbors on W Utah Ave.  She was always there with a smile and a wave.   I will keep your family in my prayers.  This was a total shock to everyone on the street.  I always got a wave and a Hi on my way to church on Sunday I was wondering where she was this Sunday.  She would holler out to me say a prayer for me.

Shirley was an amazing woman.  We grew to know and love her, as a neighbor and friend.  Her passing has all of us stunned and feeling numb. She will be missed more than you can imagine.  We will keep her, along with her loving family in our prayers.

Anita, Andy, Andrew send our love to T and Michael,  will always remember our time in Brewster as a family.
