Born in Portland, ME, she had lived in Covered Bridge in Manalapan since 1984.
Barbara worked for many years as a claims adjuster for Aetna Insurance Company. She was very active in the Covered Bridge community and as a volunteer with the Deborah organization.
Barbara had a wonderful sense of humor and a lifelong love of telling jokes. She was also a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother whose constant concern made her beloved by her entire family.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Rukin (Fred Selzer); her three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey (Shareen), Allan (Julie), and Robert (Robin); her brother, Roy Cherwin; and her seven grandchildren, Michael, Laurence, Bryan (Danielle), Max, Joshua, Zoe, and Rebekah; and her two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Chase.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels in Manalapan. Interment will follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
