Barbara Kaplan, age 82 of Lakeland, Florida (for the last 5 years) passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. She was born June 28, 1939 in Newark, New Jersey to William and Lillian Feldman. She lived in Old Bridge, New Jersey for over 35 years and Monroe Township, New Jersey for 13 years before moving to Florida.
For many years Mrs. Kaplan worked for the Old Bridge Board of Education as a substitute teacher and then 25 years as a special education teacher before retiring in 2004.
Two years after graduating from Weequahic High School, she married her husband Joel Kaplan on July 12, 1959. As a family, they lived in Old Bridge until Joel’s passing in August 1988.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Marla Seybert and husband Kevin; daughter Wendy Ash and husband Ron; brother Lawrence Feldman; sister Jane Schachter and husband David; granddaughter Jenna Romano and husband Joe; grandson Kyle Seybert; and grand fur baby Rylie Ash.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, New Jersey 07095 immediately followed by a burial.
Shiva will be observed privately.
