Flo was born on December 21, 1945 In Manhattan, New York to Jeanette and Irving “George” Yancovitch. Flo grew up in a brownstone in the city where she went to high school followed by Hunter College. After college she moved to Queens, where she was set up on a blind date with Charlie. A few short months later they were married. After the birth of Gary, they moved to Manalapan, NJ. Then Scott completed the family.
Flo worked for New York City Department of Finance for over fifty years as a computer systems analyst and programmer. She loved the work and the people she worked with and worked until the week after her 75th birthday.
Florence is survived by her husband Charlie, her sons Gary (Alyssa) and Scott (Christine), and her grandchildren Jessica, Justin, Kathleen and Amelia, her brother, Alan (Gail) Yancovitch. Florence is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Julia Schechter.
Services will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapel in Manalapan, NJ at 11am on Monday. Interment will take place at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ.
