Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Teacher, and Friend
Grace Leder passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8th, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.
For 67 years, Grace shared a remarkable life with her husband and greatest joy, Marty Leder. Their partnership was one of deep affection, mutual respect, and boundless adventure—a love story that endured and inspired. She is survived by her devoted children, Steven and Randi Leder, David and Cristie Leder, and Elizabeth and Michael Guiffrida, and her beloved grandchildren: Samantha, Alex, Kate, Mindy, Sam, and Zack. Her sister, Ellen, and husband, Artie Schloss, also survive her, continuing the bond of family she held so dear.
Grace was a woman of quiet strength and generous spirit. Supportive, kind, and endlessly loving, she gave herself fully to her family and community. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher before choosing to pause her professional life to raise her children—a decision that reflected the depth of her commitment to those she loved. Later, Grace returned to education with renewed passion, earning a master’s degree from Keane College, graduating at the top of her class. She went on to teach special education in the Hazlet elementary school system for nine years, where her creativity, patience, and compassion made a lasting impact.
Grace’s heart extended far beyond the classroom. She had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and found joy in the simple beauty of everyday life. A lifelong learner and traveler, she explored the world alongside Marty, with photographic safaris in Africa being among her most cherished experiences. She visited Israel three times and proudly supported the work of Hadassah as a lifetime member. Her spirit of service also led her to volunteer with Deborah Hospital in Bordentown, New Jersey, where she offered her time and heart to those in need.
At home, Grace’s creativity knew no bounds. Her hands were rarely still—she filled her space with hand-stitched needlepoints, and lovingly knit baby sweaters and college blankets in school colors for her grandchildren, each piece a testament to her devotion and care.
Grace Leder touched countless lives with her kindness, her quiet strength, and her generous heart. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the students she inspired, and the many friends and community members who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
