Ivan L. Schwartz 89 Freehold formerly of Barnegat and Massapequa, N.Y. died Friday December 26 with his family at home. An Attorney and graduate of Brooklyn Law School he had served in WWII on B-29’s, was a Boy Scout Leader, bicycle enthusiast, reader and a volunteer in the Barnegat Elementary Schools. Pre-deceased by his wife of 52 years, Betty, together they camped and traveled the world. His last trip, solo, was to Antarctica.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Anne and Artie Silber of Red Bank. Two sons and a daughter-in-law Stephen of New York and Donald and Marilyn of Manalapan. He was the loving grandfather of Paul and his wife Jenna, Mark, David and Lauren. Great-Grandfather to Matthew.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Monday at Temple Beth Am Shalom 1235 Hwy 70 Lakewood. Burial will follow at Beth Olam Cemetery Lakewood. Bloomfield-Cooper Manalapan is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Barnegat Public Library.
