

Jeff was a true humanitarian. He spent more than 25 years running and advising the development of programs that provided disaster relief and access to food, clean water, health care and education through his work with CARE International in Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Caucasus Asia and the Middle East. He had most recently worked in Ethiopia and Yemen prior to accepting the assignment of Country Director for CARE International in Sierra Leone. Because of his efforts, the lives of tens of thousands of people in poverty stricken and conflict affected areas on 4 continents have improved tremendously.
Jeff was pre-deceased by his father: Hillard Gowa. He is survived by his loving wife: Carmen J. Caballero, his cherished mother: Elaine Gowa of Aberdeen, NJ, his loving daughters: Natasha Hillary Komoda of Seattle, WA, and Samantha Gowa at home, his dear brothers: Alan of Aberdeen, NJ and Paul of Helmetta, NJ. Services will be held at “BLOOMFIELD-COOPER JEWISH CHAPELS” 44 Wilson Avenue (Route #527 North) Manalapan, NJ on Thursday August 15, 2013 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm for the 3:00pm service.There will be a private Shiva.
