Jerome Riback, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Born and raised in the Bronx, Jerome remained a proud New Yorker throughout his life, carrying with him the grit, humor, and heart of his hometown.
Jerome was predeceased by his cherished wife of over 50 years, Harriet, with whom he built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. He also mourned the loss of his grandson Ryan, son-in-law Phil, his sister-in-law Diane, and his parents Paul and Anna.
He is survived by his devoted daughters Marlene and Ellen, his son-in-law Steve, his grandsons Matt and Justin, and Justin’s wife Jackie. He also leaves behind his brother Arnie, and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who brought him great joy over the years.
Jerome’s family was his greatest pride, and he treasured every moment spent with them—especially talking sports with his grandsons and sharing his signature “Dad jokes,” which were reliably groan-worthy and always delivered with a twinkle in his eye. His grand-dogs Brody, Marshall, Baxter, and Boomer were frequent recipients of his affection.
A lifelong fan of the Yankees and Giants, Jerome could often be found discussing game-day highlights or reminiscing about legendary plays—especially those of his favorite player, Joe DiMaggio. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Pythias for many years, embodying the values of friendship, charity, and benevolence.
Jerome was deeply connected to his extended family, and some of his most cherished memories were made during Passover and Thanksgiving celebrations with loved ones. These gatherings were filled with warmth, laughter, and tradition, and they reflected the enduring bonds that defined his life.
His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the wisdom he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
