Born on October 29, 1947, to Samuel Gordon and Rose Gordon, Lois was a devoted daughter, loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and dear friend. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, David, Richard, and Barry.
Lois was the proud and loving mother of Christopher and Matthew, and cherished mother-in-law to Christine. Her greatest joy in life was being “Nana” to her adored granddaughters, Olivia and Abigail. Nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with them. She proudly wore her Nana shirts and jewelry whenever she was with them — a visible symbol of the love she carried so deeply in her heart.
Lois began her career as a medical biller before later working at the phone company. Her dedication to helping others eventually led her back to school later in life, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work with a focus on drug and alcohol counseling. After graduating, she worked at Staten Island Hospital, devoting herself to supporting individuals and families with compassion, strength, and understanding.
She loved playing cards and could spend hours talking on the phone with family and friends, always staying connected to those she loved. Lois was known for her sharp mind and her remarkable memory — she never forgot a birthday, a family story, or a meaningful detail. Her attentiveness made everyone feel remembered and important.
Lois will be remembered for her intelligence, devotion to family, and the immense pride she took in being a mother and Nana. Her love, warmth, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
