Marvin Goldstein, 88, of Lake Worth Florida, formerly of Brooklyn, NY and Marlboro, NJ passed away peacefully from Covid/Pneumonia on Jan. 25th. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1933, Marvin attended Abraham Lincoln High School and City College. He spent two years in the Army, proudly serving his country. The entirety of his career was spent as a textile converter in the garment industry.
Marvin was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Shirley Goldstein. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Judy, three daughters - Robin (Jim) Gorenc of Manalapan, NJ, Lori (Toni) Goldstein of Yonkers, NY, and Jill (Steve) Goldstein of Philadelphia, PA, four grandchildren - Jonny, Greg, and Allie Gorenc and Jessica Zharnest, his brother and sister, Harold Goldstein and Rona Prince, and his cousin/brother, Herb Sokol.
Marvin was a quiet, yet very personable man who deeply cared about his family and friends. A mentor and supporter of many, Marvin's generosity, wisdom, and guidance helped people through challenging times. He had a quick wit and sharp mind and always had a joke to share. He was a die-hard Mets fan and enjoyed going to games when he lived in NY and NJ. Marvin was a very talented musician, playing the violin and upright bass. His musical talents were passed to his grandchildren, and he would beam with pride when he watched or listened to them. They, along with his wife and daughters, were the lights of his life, and their beloved "Poppy" was the light of theirs. Marvin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing what an impact he made on his family and friends.
A funeral service will he held on Fri., Jan. 28th at 1:00 at the Mt. Sinai Cemetery and Mausoleum, 361 Hwy. 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. Shiva will be on Friday only from 4:00 to 9:00 at the home of Robin and Jim Gorenc, 28 Terence Dr., Manalapan, NJ 07726.
