Rita Ascione

Rita was born in New York NY and grew up living on the now famous 97 Orchard Street in Manhattan, She was married to her husband Luigi Ascione for 30 years until he passed away in 1978

Rita settled in Howell New Jersey in 1988. She was a member of the Howell Township Ladies Auxiliary for 15 years. She was also a longtime member of the Howell Senior center. She loved her weekly trips shopping and going to restaurants with her fellow senior friends. Rita also loved to knit, every single day she could be seen with her sewing needles sewing hats and scarves for those in need.

Rita was predeceased by her husband in 1978 and her daughter Valerie Rose Carmody in 2017

She is survived by her daughter Susan Forgetta of Rocky Ford, Colorado, her son Ralph, and his wife Jeriann of Colorado Springs, Colorado, , her grandchildren Kerri and her husband Matt Robinson of Lajunta Colorado, Ralph and his wife Grace Ascione of Golden Colorado, Dana and her husband Micah Dillard of Spring Texas, Louis and his wife Cristyl Ascione of Bakersfield California, Matthew and his wife Melissa Ascione of Boston, Massachusetts, Erin and her husband JoelDavid Herlache of Tomball Texas, and Gina and her husband Anthony Gerahty of Howell, NJ.

She also leaves behind her 12 beloved great-grandchildren

Rita lived a long wonderful life and was blessed to have such loving family and friends. She will always be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper, Manalapan, NJ on Thursday, April 27th from 4:30-7:30pm.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. William the Abbot Church 2740 Lakewood-Allenwood Rd, Howell, NJ at 10:30 am on Friday, April 28th.

Interment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island NY.
