
Jackson,NJ – STEPHEN M. CANTOR died April 13, 2012 at his home. He was 74 years old.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, he lived in West Nyack, NY for many years before moving to Jackson, NJ 16 years ago.
Prior to retiring in 1994, he was a Music Teacher in The Hendrick Hudson School District in Westchester, NY for 27 years. Before that, he taught math in the New York City school system for 5 years. He received his BA in 1961 from City College of NY and his MS in 1991 from Long Island University.
A musician, he played the bass, piano, electric guitar, bass guitar and sang. He started his musical career in the Catskills in the 1950’s and continued his career playing many club dates throughout the area with the Mark Towers Music Service, NY
Mr. Cantor was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Lynn.
Surviving are his children: Nancy J. Cantor of Jersey City and Stuart M. Cantor and his wife Teri of Whippany; his sister Bobbie Mitchell and her husband Stuart of Grandview, NY; his sister-in-law Benita Stanley, his “twin” cousin Lynda Cantor and many other members of a loving extended family.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 11:00 am at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, followed by interment at New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
