

Dorothy A. (Dot) Kerry, 88, of Manchester died peacefully on June 10, 2012 at the Manor at Birch Hill Terrace in Manchester after a period of declining health. She was born on June 24, 1923 in Holyoke, MA, the daughter of Albert and Laura (Duncan) Murphy. She was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She relocated to Manchester with her husband and children in 1952.
Dorothy’s family was very important to her and she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed travel, enjoying many cruises and trips throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and Europe. She was a former member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Manchester.
She was predeceased in July 2009 by her husband of 63 years William Kerry, her son William “Bill” Kerry Jr., her brother Albert Murphy and her sisters, Ruth Murphy, Constance Bach, Gertrude Obuchowski and Kellie Murphy. Her brother John Murphy passed away on June 14, 2012 in Oakland CA.
Members of her family include her son Robert “Bob” Kerry and his wife Helen of Hooksett, her daughter Patricia Guilmette and her husband Raymond of New Mexico, her daughter -in -law Linda Kerry of Virginia, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her two brothers Ronald Murphy and his wife Patricia of Goshen, MA and Daniel Murphy and his wife Beverly of Westfield, MA as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family gratefully acknowledges the staff of the Manor at Birch Hill Terrace for their professionalism and genuine concern and care for Dorothy during her residency at the Manor. The family also gratefully acknowledges the staff and volunteers of VNA Hospice for their care and compassion during Dorothy's final days.
Visitation was held on Thursday July 5, 2012 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester followed by a Memorial Service in the funeral home. Committal was on Friday July 6 at 10:30AM in St. Thomas Cemetery, King’s Highway in W. Springfield, MA.
