Florence Newell

Florence R. Newell, 89 of Bedford and Venice, FL died September 29, 2013 at Bentley Commons surrounded by her family after a long illness.

She was born on November 23, 1923 in Somerville, NJ, the daughter of Stanley and Sophie Sabotka. She grew up in Somerville and was educated in the local school system.

Florence was very active and loved music, singing, dancing and was an avid reader. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for Muir Lumber and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Members of her family include her husband of 71 years, Herbert F. “Bert” Newell Jr. of Bedford; her two sons, Herbert Newell III and his wife Barbara of Manchester, Mark Newell and his wife Gail of Bedford; her daughter Lynda Tunberg and her husband Alan of Methuen, MA; her eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Home Health and Hospice and Bentley Commons for the loving care she received. There will be no services at this time. Memorial donations may be made to Home Health Care and Hospice, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03045. The McHugh Funeral Home is assisting the family.
