

Grace M. Cormier, 90, of Manchester passed away in the early morning hours of August 20, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jacksonville, NC on October 11, 1920, the daughter of Eddie Lee Humphrey and Mary Jane (Morton) Humphrey.
She was raised in Jacksonville and later trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Luke Hospital in New Bern, NC. It was there that she met her future husband Larry Cormier and moved to Manchester to begin a wonderful 65 years of life together.
Mrs. Cormier was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena parish. She was a member of the Women’s Guild of the parish. She also served as vice president of her husband’s business, Shell Repairing. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. Devoted to her family, she was blessed with a “green thumb” and was an avid gardener.
Family members include her husband, Laurent G. Cormier of Manchester; three daughters, Susan Clow and her husband Victor of Auburn, Diane Cormier-Agan and her husband Christopher of Bedford IN and Patricia DeQuoy and her husband Mark of Rotterdam, NY; three grandchildren, Laurent Clow of Dover, NH, Elyse DeQuoy of Berryville, VA and Michelle DeQuoy of Lynchburg, VA; two sisters, Annie Tallman of Maysville NC and Avaline Williams of Richland NC; a brother, Fernie Humphrey of Jacksonville, NC; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in St. Catherine of Sienna Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock Sts. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Grace’s name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, PO Box 650309, Dallas TX 75265-0309.
