John R. Doward

John R. Doward, 51, of Manchester, died July 18, 2014 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a brief illness. He was born in Lynn, MA on March 3, 1963 the son of James and Shirley (Cross) Doward. His family moved to Manchester when John was ten years old and he was educated in the Queen City School System and attended West High School.

He was employed as a cook at many local restaurants most and recently at Cactus Jack’s. John enjoyed sports especially baseball and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also loved a good round of golf.

He was predeceased by his sister Janice Doward on December 30, 2004.

Members of his family in addition to his parents include his sister Joan Doward and her fiancé Joseph Brand of Manchester, his two brothers Donald Doward and his wife Thea of Tewksbury, MA and Roger Doward and his wife Judy of No. Ft. Myers, FL as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Monday July 28 from 4 to 6PM at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St.in Manchester immediately followed by a Memorial Service in the funeral home. Urn burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in John’s name be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
