Kathleen R. McGowan Clarke

Kathleen R. (McGowan) Clarke, 88, of West Suffield CT and formerly of Manchester passed away June 15, 2015 at the Bayfront Hospice in St. Petersburg, FL. She was born in Lawrence, MA on June 27, 1926, the daughter of the late Thomas and Marion (Eaton) McGowan.

She was raised in Manchester and resided here until moving to the Hartford CT area in 1953. She lived there until retiring to Boca Raton, FL with her husband, Gerald B. Clarke. They moved back to Connecticut a couple of years prior to her beloved husband Gerald’s death in November, 2001.

Kathleen was a Registered Nurse all of her professional life while raising her six children, She was a member of the ELKS Club and the American Legion in Connecticut and while in Manchester was a parishioner of St. Joseph Cathedral parish.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Susan and Rick LaBrie of Bedford, Kathleen and Jon Kores of West Suffield, Ct, Judith Clarke and Michael Belchak of Vernon, CT, Patricia Clarke Bailey of Boca Raton, FL and G. William and Kip Clarke of Boca Raton; 16 grandchildren, Christopher Herron, Jennifer Floyd, Alisa Smith, Benjamin and Noah Kores, Sara Scheck, Billy, Tommy and Danny Bailey, Jeffrey Clarke, John McLaughlin, Reagan McLaughlin, Amanda LaBrie, Jeff Hutson, Eric LaBrie and Elise Magner; 20 great grandchildren and two brothers, Peter McQueeney and Terry McQueeney and his wife Dorothy; nieces and nephews.

There were no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in St. Joseph Cathedral Chapel, 145 Lowell St. Manchester. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sun Coast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
