Alice K. Lett, November 5th, 1936- November 30th, 2023. Born in North Carolina to her father, Robert Lett and her mother, Maggie Lett. She was raised alongside her siblings who she will now be reunited with, Francis Lett, Janet, Erman McCrae, Alfonso Lett, Pernell McCrae, then migrated to Manchester, New Jersey, where her roots and legacy remained.
Alice is survived by her son, Lamont Lett Sr. and his wife Janice Lett, as well as her daughter, Lashay Lett. Her grandchildren, Loucadia Lett-Rivera, Louquasha Lett and Lamont Lett Jr. She is also great-grandmother to Keilah, Jeremiah, Jonah and Uriah. She has two living nephews, Jermaine Lett and Simone Fasion. And aunt to the late Sherman Lett. She also has a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
Sweet, kind gentle and with a brilliant smile, Alice was a subtle yet significant pillar of Manchester's Richard Estates. She played a special role in the neighborhood behind the scenes always lending a helping a hand. Whether she was raking leaves, folding clothes, cleaning houses, or babysitting kids and watching her grandchildren and great great grandchildren, her presence was well known and foundational.
The number 30 and the month of November are significant in her life. Her mother, Maggie, was 30 years old when she gave birth to her on November 5th. The date that her birth certificate was signed was November 30th, 1956. The day her first granddaughter, Loucadia Lett-Rivera was born was on November 30th, 1992. And the day she went home to be with the Lord was November 30th, 2023 on her granddaughter's 31st birthday. What a celebration for this dancing queen and proof that God's timing is perfect.
Later on in life, Alice spent much time with her son and his family traveling, attending events and special occasions (many in which she was the life of the party on the dance floor) and eventually settling down in a home of her own in Whiting, New Jersey, with her daughter Lashay. Together they lived in an adult community creating memories together and making friends as they attended many activities, trips and outreaches within the Pine Ridge neighborhood. She also served as an usher at her church, True Gospel Ministries, where she dedicated her life to Christ. Alice was surrounded by her children, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they shared the love of Christ with her while cheering her on when she was transitioning home to meet her Heavenly Father.
