

Brenda Gainey, age 63, of Manchester, NJ, passed away peacefully with her husband Gary and son Gary Jr, by her side, on Monday, December 30, 2024. Brenda was born in Neptune, NJ, on August 19th,1961. to Walter Bivins Jr. (Tree Service/ Jersey June Factory worker) and Mamie Louise Tucker (Home Maker). Brenda was the eldest sibling to Walter Bivins III (Chef/ Short order cook) She was raised in Lakewood, NJ,
Brenda was very active and studious in school as she progressed through the Lakewood School System often achieving honors. After graduating Lakewood High School in 1979 she went on to attend, and graduate, from Georgian Court University in 1983. She got married to her childhood sweetheart in 1981 and they began traveling the world together as Gary Sr served tours of duty in the Army making it his lifetime career.
Over the years she worked for various companies including, but not limited to, the Lakewood Public Library, A chemist in California, A secretary and assistant for Department of Defense (California), Bio-Chemist (California), Chief of JROTC (Fort Dix NJ) (27 years).
Throughout the years she volunteered her time towards community service by contributing to Michael McNeil’s STEPS community newsletter, participating in the Lakewood Chapter of Toast Masters for several years, and volunteering most recently at Calvary Lighthouse Church in their administrative office (throughout her retirement). Also, in her spare time she enjoyed walking, knitting, and playing word games and puzzles to keep her intellectually and cognitively sharp.
Brenda always considered her first love in life, and greatest accomplishment, was to being a homemaker; she was a devoted wife for 43 years and a devoted mother.
Brenda is survived by numerous cousins and kin throughout the Bivins family, in-laws throughout the Gainey family, and maternal relatives throughout the Tucker family, her loving brother Walter Bivins III, her devoted husband of 43 years, Gary Gainey Sr., and her loving son, Gary Gainey, Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 11, 2025, from 1-3 pm, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759.
