George V. Guglielmo, 85, of Manchester passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3rd, 2023, in Manchester Twp. George was born on October 25th, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, to parents Flavius and Molly (nee Rosalia) Guglielmo. He grew up in Brooklyn and attended St. Francis High School. George was a standout pitcher for his high school baseball team earning him an academic scholarship and taking his team to a championship win. After high school, George entered the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Ironically, after George's discharge from the Army, a friend of his introduced him to his future wife, Ursula, who was from Germany. They married in 1966 and settled in Brooklyn where they had their first child. In 1972, they moved to Aberdeen, NJ, had their second child and raised their family.
George was a printing plate maker by trade. In 1967, he started his own business and successfully operated it until he sold it in the mid-eighties. After retiring, George and his wife eventually relocated to Manchester Twp. It is here that he remained until his passing. George was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching all sports and partaking in a few. He truly enjoyed the game of golf and would play every chance he could at the Jumping Brook Country Club where he was a member. And, although he loved his sports, his true passion was his family and friends. Being with his family, gathering with his friends and meeting new people is what gave him the most joy in life. George will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
George was predeceased by his parents, Flavius and Molly Gudlielmo and his brother, Flavius Guglielmo. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ursula (nee Timmermann), son, Dr. Christopher Guglielmo and his wife, Betsy, his daughter, Claudia Guglielmo, Esq. and his two grandchildren, Carter and Hannah.
Cremation was held privately. A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, April 7th, 2023 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ 08759.
