Gerald B. Baker

Gerald B. Baker, age 87 of Manchester Twp. New Jersey, passed away on Monday February 14, 2022. Gerald, also called Jerry by his close friends and family members, was born on July 6, 1934 in Newark NJ to Paris and Lorraine Baker. He was raised in Newark and attended the Newark school system. He also participated in the St. Joseph's Drum and Bugle Corp, where he was a color guard captain. Gerald was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Upon leaving the Armed service, he worked at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station for 30 years before retiring. Gerald, who was a man of faith, joined the church of Grace and Peace in Toms River in 2004 and served on the Usher board. He strongly believed in service, volunteering as a fireman at the Ridgeway Fire Company, Station 34, for over 40 years, serving as president for multiple terms. In addition to his volunteerism at the fire company, he volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, Fire Police Investigator and at several other organizations throughout his life.

Gerald is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Cherryl Baker, daughter Sharon, sons Samuel (Robin), Steven (Adria), Scott, Shawn (Katie), Simeon (Jenna), 24 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Paris and Lorraine Baker, brother Bernard Baker and his special 1st cousins, Elaine Wallace Byrd, Judith Hammond Cooper, and Jackie Wallace Hayward.

Visitation for Gerald will be held Tuesday February 22, from 4pm to 7pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester Twp. NJ. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 23rd, from 11am to 12:30pm at the Church of Grace and Peace,1563 Old Freehold Road, Toms River NJ
