

Karl Daniel Keller, 89, of Tyler, TX, passed away on Monday May 14, 2012, at the Sundance, Tyler, TX. He was born on 9/30/22 in Aristes, PA and graduated from Conyngham Twp HS in 1940. Karl worked as a Mechanical Draftsman for Duquesne Light Co., Pittsburgh, PA before entering the service in 1944. Second LT in the Army, Karl was certified as pilot for single and 4 engine planes and served as a flight instructor until his discharge in November 1945. Continuing his love of flying, he became a pilot for Air Freight. His love of flying also led him to his beloved wife Patricia. They were married in Laurence Harbor, NJ on May 17th, 1947. He retired from Jersey Central/NJ Power & Light Co. after 37 years as Chief Draftsman. Karl enjoyed golfing, pool, and naturally flying his Bilanca plane. They resided in Covered Bridge in Manalapan until 2009, when they moved to Texas.
Karl is survived by his wife, Patricia currently of Tyler, TX, son Daniel (wife Kathy) of Swarthmore, PA, and daughter Carol Preble (husband Walter) of Rusk, TX, grandaughter Valerie Osborne (husband Dave) of Brookville, PA, grandson Karl (wife Kim) of Folcroft, PA. He has two great-grandchildren: Hayden Osborne of Brookville, PA and Daniel Keller of Folcroft, PA. He is also survived by his cousin Ted Keller and niece Gail Wickline, as well as the Novatin and Misenheimer families. He was predeceased by his parents Eurie and William Keller, his sister Mary Roman, and his brothers Guy and Wallace Keller.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the National Parkinson Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Friday May 18, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road (Route 571), Manchester, NJ 08759. Families and friends may meet at the funeral home at 11 am on Saturday May 19, 2012, and then proceed to Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ, for a Funeral Service and Military Honors to be held at 12:45 pm. Karl’s love of flying saw him thru to the end: when asked how as a young boy in the coal mining region of Pennsylvania he knew he wanted to fly, his answer was: “How do you know you want to breathe?”
