

Robert Paul Garbie, Sr., 72, of Manchester, NJ, passed away on Wednesday December 29, 2021, at Community Medical Center, NJ. Robert was born in and grew up in Jersey City, NJ, then lived in Woodbridge, then Old Bridge for 23 years before moving to Manchester 14 years ago. He loved music, especially rock music. Robert was an exceptional football player, who still holds several records at Sacred Heart CYO, some alumni have said that he was the greatest football player the school ever had. He gained notoriety at Woodbridge HS in 1967 and 68 for his accomplishments in the game he so dearly loved..
He was an inspiration. Robert was also a diehard Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame fan.
Robert is survived by Alicja, his wife of 54 years, his children; daughter, Barbara Ann Smith and her husband John, his son Robert P. Garbie, Jr., daughter Jennifer McGuinness and her husband Sean, his grandchildren; Christopher, Jack, Tyler and Alexis, and his brother Walter E. Garbie, Jr. and his wife Linda and his sister Ann Marie Schladabeck and her husband Mark, nephew Jeffrey Fallon and his wife Maria, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday January 5, 2022, at 10 am at Saint John’s RC Church, 619 Chestnut Street, Lakehurst, NJ 08733, with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 62 Cedar Grove Rd., Toms River, NJ 08753. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to the DAV (www.dav.org)
