
Agnes F. Mam-ma Shifferly, 71, of Mansfield died Friday, May 28, 2010 at MedCentral Hospital. Born November 3, 1938 in Buchannon, WV, she was the daughter of Asa Webster and Minnie B. Tenney Zickefoose. Moving to Mansfield in 1953, Agnes worked as a nurse's aide and security guard. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and arts and crafts. A 5-time cancer survivor, Agnes was a great fighter with a strong will to live. Above all else, Mam-ma loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Naomi Shifferly and Nancy Benjie James, both of Mansfield; sons, James Kelly Shifferly of Delaware and Ralph Dean of Grafton; four grandchildren, Crystal, Jet, Amber, and Chaz Shifferly; six great grandchildren, Kahleel Butler, Kezariah Shifferly, Shameik Parker, Jamerrion Feagin, Jaiah Douglas, and Khayla Elder; brother Floyd Alice Zickefoose of Coshocton; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Maria Ward and MoTown. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin J. Shifferly; first husband, Ralph Dean, Sr.; brothers, Melvin, Marvin, Glenn, and Guy Zickefoose; and sisters, Margene Crawford, Gladys Umstead, and Dorothy Davis.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. William Cantleberry. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
