

Alexander Charles Dollish, 78 of Mansfield, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after a lengthy illness. Alex was born October 31, 1939 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He moved to the Mansfield area in the 1970’s working as an Optician for over 30 years at Sears Optical in Ontario. Alex loved music and was a former member of the Mansfield Choral Society. He enjoyed the outdoors, often opting for a camping trip for the family’s summer vacation. Playing cards with friends and weekly Thursday night dinner outings were a favored past time. Alex had a passion for genealogy, loving to tell stories about his family and growing up in Pittsburgh. His greatest blessing was becoming a grandfather to Zachary and Emma-Rose.
Alex is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Dollish; his children, Patricia Dollish, Steven Dollish, Phillip and Tammy Dollish, and James Dollish; his grandchildren, Zachary Dollish and Emma-Rose Dollish, all of Mansfield. He is also survived by a brother, Robert and Carol Dollish of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rose (Gergely) Dollish of Pittsburgh and several aunts and uncles that he cherished.
A celebration of Alex’s life will be held at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Home, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral service, conducted by Mansfield Fire Chaplin Link Briggs will commence at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 8th, 2018. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery where there will be a brief graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Mansfield Cancer Foundation.
