Ben Rachel

Ben Rachel, 73, of Mansfield passed at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Sunday, August 27, 2017. He was born on December 3, 1943 in Mendota, Virginia. He was the son of the late Laborn and Emily (Johnson) Rachel.

Ben retired from MANCI as a corrections officer. He was a member of the Mansfield 741 Moose Lodge, the Sons of Italy and the Eagles. Ben was an avid NASCAR fan, had a love for antique cars, and enjoyed camping and hunting.

He is survived by his life long companion and friend, Mary Lou Rachel; his sons, Raymond (Tracy) Rachel, Ben (Mel) Rachel and Jack (Tamara) Rachel; his grandchildren, Emily, Ben III., Sarah, Cruz, Cameron and Casey, and Jordan (Greg) Eichorn; a great-grandchild, Roman Eichorn; his brothers, William (Sally) Rachel Sr., and Walter Rachel; and numerous nieces, nephews and other dear relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie (Wanda) Rachel, Robert Rachel, and Junior Rachel.

Family and friends are encouraged and welcome to attend the Celebration of Life on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 5pm at The Ohio State Reformatory, 100 Reformatory Road Mansfield, OH 44905. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of Ben Rachel.
