Bertha Smith

Bertha G. "Jerry" Smith, 78, of Mansfield, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Crystal Care Center in Mansfield. Born March 17, 1935 in Baltimore, Ohio, she was the daughter of Leslie J. and Bertha O. (Willoughby) George. Jerry was a loving and happy lady who was known for her parties and picnics. She was a care giver to the elderly and enjoyed ceramics, cooking and gardening.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Charles) Edwards, Gloria Wiseman, Cheryl (Russell) Harvey, Kathy (Robert) Bailey, Robin (Thomas) Gerwig and Karen (Cecil) Ramey all of Mansfield; son, Robbie (Shelly) Smith of Bellville; she was blessed with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two brothers, Karl (Lisa) George of Baltimore, Ohio and Kenny (Linda) George of Newark, Ohio; a sister, Ginger (Neil Kast) Leeper of California; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles R. Stanley; her second husband, Delbert Smith; a daughter, Patricia Clark; a son, Roy Smith; and an infant son.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Basil Memorial Cemetery, Baltimore, Ohio.
