
Betty J. Dawson, 73, of Mansfield, died August 8, 2007, at Hospice House in Ashland. Betty went to be with her Lord after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Born November 21, 1933 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Robert and Mary Harbaugh Dinges. She attended Mayflower Congregational Church where she volunteered many hours and also served as past church secretary and treasurer. Betty retired from Buckler's Bookkeeping in Lucas after 57 years of service. She enjoyed traveling and visiting lighthouses, camping, spending time with her family and playing in the dirt. She collected snowmen figurines.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Floyd Dawson; three sons, Frank Cindy Dawson, Randy Pam Dawson, all of Mansfield, Paul Chris Dawson of Perrysville; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Devina, Shawn, Matthew, Jackie, Jason, Tracy, and Derek Dawson; five great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Kaleb, Clayton, Leland and Jordan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Ralph Dinges, sisters, Beverly Schneurer, Charlene Slicker, and daughter-in-law, Jalene Dawson.
Friends may call Saturday, August 11 from 5-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. A memorial service conducted by Rev. Dr. Gary Wilson will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Mayflower Congregational Church with calling from 3-4 p.m. Burial will be in Lantz Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or the Memorial Fund at Mayflower Congregational Church.
