
Betty L. DeVore, 53, of Ontario, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at her home. Born December 31, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Tom and Irene Bradley Starr. Betty received her Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University and her Master's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. She retired from the Ontario School District and was an adjunct teacher at North Central State College. Betty was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church and the Ohio Geographical Association. Spending time with her family was very important to Betty and she especially enjoyed vacationing with them in North Carolina. She loved animals, enjoyed traveling, and was a sports fan, participating in volleyball, soccer and softball.
She is survived by her husband, Paul John DeVore; two sons, Kevin R. DeVore of Ontario and Keith M. Christie Graham DeVore of Newark, OH; mother, Irene Starr of Parma; brother, Thomas A. Louise Starr of Kansas City, MO; sister, Diane Starr Parkinson of Homerville, OH; special friend, Debby Grove; and nieces and nephews, Terry Miller, Tina Parkinson Sailer, Billy Parkinson, Laura Cruse, Theresa Legato, Thomas Starr, Sarah Kiel, Julia Starr, Rebecca Wohletz, Catherine Lester and Timothy Starr. Her father preceded her in death.
Friends may visit from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Ontario United Methodist Church with Rev. David E. Case, Jr. officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or MedCentral Hospice.
