Betty Hess

Betty J. Hess, 74, of Mansfield, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born November 11, 1934, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Walter C. and Opal Payton Jones. She was a 1954 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Betty was an area homemaker her entire life and was a member of Real Life Community Church, T.O.P.S. and the Richland Camera Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at church and playing cards.

She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Sherri Hess of Lewis Center, OH and Robert Janet Hess of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Christy Marie and Amanda Kay; two step grandchildren, Kelly Backensto and Jodi Meyer; two sisters, Barbara Gene Patton of Arcadia, FL and Carol Bill Tackett of Mansfield; three brothers, Walter A. Charlene Jones of Mansfield, David J. Lynda Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC and Gary Joann Jones of Circleville; a brother-in-law, John Cline of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conley A. "Red" Hess, whom she married April 19, 1958, and died December 23, 1996; granddaughter, Desha Ann; parents; and sister, Connie Cline.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
