Blane Michael Drake, 43, of Ashland, died unexpectedly Monday, April 17, 2006, at his residence. He was born November 14, 1962, in Battle Creek, MI the son of Edward L. and Sharon McCarthy Drake and had been an Ashland resident since 1973. Blane was a self employed businessman in the Ashland area and was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Katie Siver Drake; three children, Chelsea, Connor and McKenzie all of the home; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheryl and Victor Lawrence of Ashland and Shellie and James Moore of Worthington; two brothers, Timothy Drake of Jeromesville and Eric Drake of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. Blane was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon L. McCarthy Drake.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, at St. Edward's Catholic Church celebrated by Father Dave Nuss. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Drake Children Education Trust in care of Huntington Bank.
