

Brian Arthur Adair, 69, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after a sudden illness. Born September 4, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Dr. Donald R. and Betty (Johnson) Adair.
Brian was a graduate of Lexington High School and Hobart College in Geneva, New York. He was a vibrant, fun-loving guy with a great sense of humor. He had a kind heart, was loved by all and never met a stranger. He was owner/operator of Freedom Trails for 41 years, retiring in 2017. Brian was a member of First Congregational Church where he was a former Deacon and Trustee, as well as being very active on several committees. He also enjoyed volunteering his time with the Church Camp. He was involved in Boy Scouts his entire life, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop #152. He continued his service to scouting with Troop #104, embarking on two trips to Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico with his son. At the time of his death, he was a District Eagle Scout Counselor and was involved on the Troop Committee for #121. Brian was very active and enjoyed hiking, camping and boating and loved visiting the family property in Canada. He treasured these trips to Quebec and enjoyed sharing his passion for the island with his family and friends. He was an avid skier and traveled all over the United States, Canada and Europe enjoying experiences on the mountains with his family. Brian was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years this September, Patricia (Elias) Adair; his children, Katherine (Geoffrey) Truitt and Matthew (Steffany) Adair; his step son, Paul (Heidi) Lyon; his grandchildren, Neil, Thomas, Jackson, and Drew; his siblings, Kristine (Gary) Imbrie, Jeffrey (Carol) Adair, Wayne (Catherine) Adair and David Adair; his sister-in-law, Amanda Adair; many close nieces and nephews; his uncle, Dr. Charles V. Adair; and his cousins, Richard (Joyce) Adair and Allen (Cheryl) Adair. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at First Congregational Church, 640 Millsboro Road with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Foundation for the Brian Arthur Adair Fund. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of Brian Adair.
