
Bruce Alan Kennedy, 68, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born October 30, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Donald W. Eileen Viola (Loomis) Kennedy.
Bruce was raised in Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School in 1967. He retired from General Motors as a tool and die maker in 2009 after 40 years of service. Bruce had a wide variety of interests including: art, music, history and cooking. He enjoyed remote control planes and woodworking. In his younger years, he was an adept skier and racquetball player. Bruce was also an avid reader and enjoyed the rush of the wind while sailing.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Zivoder) Kennedy; two sons, Brian Kennedy of Atlanta, GA and Evan Kennedy of Lexington; a sister, Sara (John) Pallay of Ontario; brother-in-law, Richard Hamman of GA; one niece; and one nephew. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Hamman; and a brother, Mike Kennedy.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The memorial service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. with Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Bruce to Friends of the Library, 43 West Third Street Mansfield, OH 44902.
