

He was born April 20, 1954 in Shelby, Ohio to Kenneth Sr. and Jaqueline (Haspeslagh) McFarland.
Bruce loved snowmobiling and frequently traveled to enjoy the snow, including trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Alaska, Revelstoke, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Glacier National Parks. When there was no snow to be had, he traded his snowmobile for a motorcycle. He enjoyed making homemade ice cream for family and friends. He also participated in Trapper Rendezvous and was regularly seen volunteering at Ashland Good Shepherd Retirement Home.
Bruce worked repairing fire trucks for B&M Parts & Service and served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Franklin Township Fire Department.
Bruce is survived by his mother, Jaqueline (Haspeslaugh) McFarland of Ashland, Ohio; brother, Kenneth “Gene” E. McFarland Jr. (Ruth) of Shelby, Ohio; sister, Elizabeth A. (McFarland) Priess of Vermilion, Ohio; nieces, Jessica Hanlon (Cory) of Clarksville, Ohio, Allison Finney (Jonathan) of Amherst, Ohio, and Rachel Priess (Michael) of Batavia, Ohio; nephew, Steven McFarland of Shelby, Ohio; great nieces, Jenna Hanlon and Kara Finney; and great nephews, Nicholas Hanlon, Jameson Finney, and Damon Finney.
In addition to his grandparents, he was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth E. McFarland Sr. and sister, Jaline M. (McFarland) Shifflet.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Clay Memorial Lutheran Church, 1601 Amoy East Rd, Mansfield, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Franklin Township Fire Department.
