
Bruce was born on August 25, 1936 in Martin's Ferry, Ohio to Sophia M. Kusic Waite and Howard E. Waite.
He married Nancy L. Pursley on August 16, 1959, with whom he shared his life's journey. She survives him, as does his daughter Jill A. Waite of Mansfield and her friend Ken Bill of Marion. He is also survived by two brothers'Richard E. Waite of Mansfield and H. Dennis Waite of Castle Rock, Colorado; two aunts'Anne Besozzi of Lansing, Ohio and Louise Gondira of Sun City, California; and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles, and an infant son.
Bruce graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1954, and obtained a BA in Education from Ashland College in 1959, and an MA in Education Administration from the Ohio State University.
Mr. Waite taught English from 1959 to 1989 in the Mansfield City Schools, and served as department head, Adult Education director, and the National Honor Society advisor. His love for teaching was evidenced in the lasting impact he had in the lives of his students.
After retirement, Bruce and Nancy worked at Trail Creek Ranch in Wyoming for nine summers.
He was also an avid runner for 33 years.
Calling hours will be at the Wappner Funeral Home in Ontario on Friday, March 28, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. A Life-Honoring Service will be on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. conducted by the family. The Reverend Richard Beal will conduct the committal service at Mansfield Memorial Park following.
With respect to his wishes, donations may be made to his family for the establishment of the Bruce A. Waite Scholarship fund.
