Born February 12, 1950 in Shelby, Ohio he was the son of Russell E. and Ruth Whitney (Weaver) Copeland. Carl was a 1968 graduate of Shelby High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Gorman Rupp where he worked as a welder and was a member of the AmVets Post 26. He enjoyed reading, NASCAR, tending to his motorcycles and all types of music. Carl was a caring and helpful man and devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Joy L. (Griffin) Copeland; two daughters, Chrystal (Joel) Green and Jennifer (Paul) Grimm all of Mansfield; two sisters, Bonnie Rain of Ontario and Sharon (John) Warrick of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1745 Walker Lake Road, Mansfield conducted by Elder Ron Miller. Burial will be in Ganges Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Brookwood Way Fire Department or MedCentral Hospice.
