

Carl E. Hershey, 76, of Mansfield died Wednesday morning, October 30, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield after a brief illness. Mr. Hershey was born March 24, 1926 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of his life. He retired from Commercial Motor Freight where he was a truck driver and was more recently employed with Hawkins Market in Ontario. He was a lifelong member of Main St. United Methodist Church, Amvets Post #26, and Teamsters Local #140. He loved riding motorcycles and walking on the bike trail. Carl loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Blair Hershey of Mansfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen & David Whitfield of Florida and Kathy & Ken Bohland and Karla & David Nikolaus, all of Mansfield; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin & Sheri Bohland, Jessica & Jamie Jolley, Kyle Bohland, Nicole Whitfield and Stephen Whitfield; three great-grandchildren, Bianca, Tauren and Alexis Jolley; three step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald & Ruby Hershey; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Hazel Blair; a sister-in-law, Carol Blair; and very special friends, Beverly & Irvin Meyers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Devoe & Maude Williams Hershey; his father-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. David Gilbert. Burial will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
