
Carl Frederick Rutledge, 92, of Mansfield died Wednesday, May 2, 2007. He departed this life and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and was reunited with his loving wife, Stella. Born March 17, 1915 in Hemphill, WV, he was the son of the late Ward lee and Jeannette Hollins Rutledge. He lived his entire life in McDowell County with the exception of 1½ years in Keokee, Virginia and his last year in Mansfield living with his daughter and son-in-law, Bill and Jean Miser. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Carl worked 50 years in the coal mines, starting on the tipple while in high school, working all the positions in the mines and retiring as a State Mine Inspector.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanetta M. Miser and her husband, Bill, of Mansfield and Ramona Rutledge Shook and special friend, Bill Sowers of Princeton, WV; two grandsons, Dr. William F. Miser and his wife, Debi of Powell and Justin Rutledge of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jessica, Jonathon, Jacquelyn and Joseph Miser; and two sisters, Delia Edward of NC and Ruth Aldred. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Stella Stoneman Rutledge; brother, Frank Rutledge; and sisters, Thelma, Tillie, Freida and Virginia.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Stewart Road Church of God. Funeral
services will follow at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Dr. Ronald e. Beady. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, West Virginia, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stewart Road Church of God, 1425 N. Stewart Rd., Mansfield, Ohio 44903, or Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr. Ashland, Ohio 44805. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
