
Carol A. Dale Cooper, 66, of Mansfield passed away Saturday April 12, 2008 at her home after a twenty year on and off battle with cancer. Known by her family to be a strong willed woman. Carol was born September 12, 1941 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Samuel and Juanita Lee.
She was a hard worker and was liked by many of her co-workers from various jobs at All-prints, Dominion, Flexible and many years at Westinghouse where she met and married her husband who survives her, Howard G. Cooper.
Carol enjoyed attending church on Sundays at the Wayside Mission on Poth Road. She loved going to garage sales and having cookouts with her family. When she became bedridden, she was kept and cared for at home by her daughter, Sherry and granddaughter-in-law, Carlie Bowman and her husband Howard.
Carol is survived by her husband, Howard G. Cooper of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry A. Dale & David Bowman Sr.; son, Frederick Freddy Dale both of Mansfield; step daughter, Kathy Smothers of South Haven, Michigan. In September of 1993 Carol and Howard gained custody of two of her grandchildren which they have raised as there own, Derek and Samantha Dale. She is also survived by three other grandsons, David Kelly Bowman Jr., Brian Bowman and Daniel Carlie Bowman Sr.; Seven great grandchildren, Shelby, David III, Brett Bowman, Zoey Bowman Young, Shayla and Caleb Bowman and Daniel DJ Bowman Jr. and a great grandchild due in September; two step-grandchildren, Stacy and Kane Smothers of Michigan. Also surviving are three brothers, Raymond Anna Lee and Gary Rita Lee all of Mansfield and Larry Lyndia Lee of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; mother-in-law, Opal Cooper of Kentucky and many nieces and nephews and brother and sisters-in-law. Carol was preceded in death by her son, William Billy Dale; her parents, Samuel and Juanita Lee; one brother, Kenneth Lee and one sister, Sharon Kay Lee and father-in-law, James Cooper.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be Wednesday at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. conducted by Pastor Darren Shaffer. Burial will follow at Franklin Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
