
Catherine M. Baumberger, 96, of Mansfield, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Brethren Care in Ashland. Born April 30, 1912 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Marusnec Kulka. She retired from First National Bank as a bookkeeper. Catherine was an active member of the First Christian Church for over 60 years. She loved working outdoors in her garden and watching birds. Catherine loved spending time with her family and traveling, especially backpacking across Europe at age 82.
She is survived by one son, Ted Danese Baumberger of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Scott Janet Baumberger of Columbia, South Carolina, Douglas Ruth Baumberger of Lexington, and Todd R. Stroup of Huntersville, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Cory Baumberger of North Carolina, and Benjamin Baumberger of Columbus; brother, Stephen Kulka of Mansfield; sister, Florence Jocha of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman S. Baumberger; son, Jim Baumberger; daughter, Elaine Stroup; two grandchildren, Christine Stroup and Brian K. Baumberger; three brothers, George, Tony, and Paul; and two sisters, Sophia and Margaret.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Chris Whitehead. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
