
Charles W. Hoskins, 79, of Mansfield, died January 7, 2008 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born March 9, 1928 in Wheelersburg, he was the son of Ed and Martha Cottel Hoskins. Charles served in the U.S. Army in Japan during WWII. He retired from Stone Container in 1993. Charles was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple. He was a member of AARP, and an outdoorsman. He enjoyed walking his dog, Laddie and gardening. Charles was faithful to his church and a good provider.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jewell Cheek Hoskins; sons, Fred Lill Galco, and Jim Linda Townsend, all of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Freddy, Eric, and Darrin Galco, and Johnny, Jimmy, and Travis Townsend; six great-grandchildren, Haley, Mason, Morgan, Kyle, and Derek Galco, and Jessica Townsend; sister, Ruth Dobbs of Miami, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Pangle, Betty Adams, Goldie Schunatz, Ruby Cable, Ethyl Strausser; and brother Robert Hoskins.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Dr. Dale V. Adkins. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Mansfield Baptist Temple or the American Red Cross.
