

Charles P. 'Bud' Hunt, age 84, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 25, 2004 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born August 3, 1919 in Mansfield to the late Harry and Martha Wappner Hunt. Bud retired from the Mansfield Fire Department where he was Captain, worked at Metropolitan Housing and also volunteered as a dispatcher for Richland County Sheriff Department. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and traveling with his wife. He was a member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, F. & A.M. Bud was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed Monday night Bible study at Tony's Restaurant. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Larry Potter of Mansfield; son, Philip Hunt of Marietta; five grandchildren, Jennifer Blue and her husband, Michael of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Jill Potter of Lexington, Ryan Potter and, Tina Lukity of Akron, Brandon Hunt and Alicia Hunt, both of Marietta; four great-granddaughters, Taylor Potter, Atlantis Marker, Rayne Potter and Kiah Potter; and his sister, Maricatherine Ferrell of California. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Alberta Hunt on August 16, 2001.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, July 28 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Pentti Maki. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
