
Charles B. Jacobs, 93, of Mansfield, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at his residence. Born August 22, 1914, in New Boston, Ohio, he was the son of Jonathan Colby and Gertrude Agnes Lawson Jacobs. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force serving during World War II. Mr. Jacobs was a powerhouse engineer retiring from General Motors in Detroit, MI. He was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple where he was a member of TOPPERS and he enjoyed gardening, yard work and fishing. He was an excellent storyteller.
Surviving are two sons, Charles R. Jacobs of Roseville, MI and Pastor James T. Rafaela Jacobs of Temperance, MI; one daughter, Karen S. Jacobs of Lansing, MI; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, James Jacobs of Muskegon, MI; and four sisters, Elizabeth Woodruff of Ontario, Lora Dave Keys of Mt. Vernon, Anna Belle Myers of Croton and Linda Harold Kunkel of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel M. Givens Long Jacobs in 2003; a sister, Celia Joseph; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Enck; and a grandson, Mike Enck.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home conducted by his son, Pastor James Jacobs and Dr. Dale V. Adkins. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park where military services will be conducted by the Richland County Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Mansfield Baptist Temple.
